Originals are drawn with wax and oil-based colored pencil on museum quality two-ply Bristol vellum. Limited edition prints are reproduced on either Museao Portfolio Rag or Verona textured 285g, depending upon texture needs of the picture. Frames custom made to meet  the American Society  of Botanical Artists (ASBA) requirements are available for both originals and prints.

Additional frame styles are available upon request. Customers may order prints custom made in differing sizes. Contact Marian (ladlock@msn.com or phone 651.792.6005) for custom options and pricing.

In addition to specializing in botanical subjects, I also find great pleasure in drawing landscapes, animals, portraits or any subject that you may want reproduced in colored pencil. Contact Marian (ladlock@msn.com or phone 651.792.6005)

These paintings are of three baby zoo animals born at Como Zoo, St. Paul. I was asked by zoo personnel to paint these portraits of baby giraffe “Skye” with her mother “Daisy,” baby zebra “Melee” and baby orangutan “Kemala.” These paintings were done as a part of the 100th anniversary celebration of the Marjorie McNeely Conservatory, which is part of the Como Park Zoo complex. This assignment was very special. I donated 100 cards each of the baby portraits that were given as place setting gifts for each attendee at the donor celebration event. These attendees had participated in the naming contest to select the names for each baby.
