Originals are drawn with wax and oil-based colored pencil on museum quality two-ply Bristol vellum. Limited edition prints are reproduced on either Museao Portfolio Rag or Verona textured 285g, depending upon texture needs of the picture. Frames custom made to meet the American Society of Botanical Artists (ASBA) requirements are available for both originals and prints.
Additional frame styles are available upon request. Customers may order prints custom made in differing sizes. Contact Marian (email@example.com or phone 651.792.6005) for custom options and pricing.
In addition to specializing in botanical subjects, I also find great pleasure in drawing landscapes, animals, portraits or any subject that you may want reproduced in colored pencil. Contact Marian (firstname.lastname@example.org or phone 651.792.6005)
NON-TRADITIONAL BOTANICAL ART
My style of painting plant life is known as botanical art, or illustration. This modern style combines scientifically accurate portrayals of plant life with artistic acumen. This allows for the use of these paintings to change from scientific research to works of fine botanical artwork. Typically, botanical art paintings depict plant subjects on either a blank background or in situ. If an artist, like I sometimes do, includes something like a bird, or vase in the painting, these types of additions may change the reference to the painting from botanical art to non-traditional botanical art.
